Important Notice: Competitors must have ONE sheet for EACH event they enter (traditional TKD and sparring are considered ONE event), but competitors would need an additonal competition sheet for weapons, creative forms, or combat sparring. Combat BME is $25 per competitor and that there are no discounts, nor does this event count as the “5th or 6th event”. Any questions, please call Casey’s ATA Academy.

Why compete?
Tournaments offer Taekwondo students a chance to perform in a new setting, to meet and make friends with students from other ATA schools, to see advanced and extreme black belt competition, and even to win trophies.

Who can participate?
Students of all ages and ranks are welcome to participate in all ATA tournaments.

Will I have to spar people much better than me?
Students at ATA tournaments are divided by rank, gender and height to ensure that all participants have a chance to compete with people with similar experience and skills.

What types of tournaments are there?
The ATA sanctions three levels of tournaments (view the ATA tournament rules):

Nationals and World Championships
Regionals
State tournaments

Summer Uniforms

Attention All Students:

May 1st will be the date we are able to start wearing our “summer uniform.” Summer uniforms consist of white dobok pants or black ATA pants, an ATA/Casey’s t-shirt, and your belt.

If you wish to order summer pants, we will be taking orders for summer pants until April 15th. Summer pants are $30. You must prepay and order the same size as your uniform.

Songahm Star

Meaning of the Star

The “Songahm Star” is the pattern that is formed on the ground if all 18 forms of the Songahm system are completed. In a perfect Songahm Star, the distance from the center point of the star to the top point is nine feet (“feet” being the student’s foot length). The total distance from the top point to the bottom point equals 18 feet, representing the number of forms in the Songahm system.

Evolution of the Martial Art

Songahm Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that was brought to America in the 1960s. Songahm Taekwondo training generally includes a system of blocks, kicks, punches, and open-handed strikes and may also include various take-downs or sweeps, throws, and joint locks. Casey’s ATA Black Belt Academy offers trained and certified staff to provide and maintain an atmosphere of confidence while teaching many life skills.
